McGregor Frustrated By His UFC Return Delay - 'I Lose Interest'

Conor McGregor has revealed that he finds it hard to stay motivated every time his UFC comeback is delayed.

McGregor’s last UFC fight was in 2021, when he suffered a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. The defeat was accompanied by a serious leg injury, which has kept him out of action since then. Talks over his return have not resulted in a fight date.

McGregor announced on New Year’s Day that he would fight Michael Chandler on June 29. Dana White dismissed that date, saying any announcement would come from the UFC. McGregor reportedly has two fights left on his deal. Unless he manages to get out of his contract, there is a danger that he suffers from more inactivity, which has frustrated him.

McGregor On The UFC

“I’m wrapping up this tour, I’ve got the St. Paddy’s Day festivities coming up, and then I’m gonna get back and regroup. I’m gonna test myself physical wiswe on the treadmill and go about the McGregor Fast way and get myself right back.

“I had a camp in Cannes, the South of France, I had a camp in Dubai where I had world champions training with me where I was hoping for a December date, then a January date. Then it keeps getting pushed back, then I lose interest and stop full training for a while. Not stop training, I will always train, but stop full training and drinking a little back. I’m going to go back and regroup,” Conor McGregor said

McGregor’s Future

If McGregor cannot get a UFC fight, he is open to pursuing some boxing bouts. He has been linked with a super fight against Manny Pacquiao in Saudi Arabia. That would be McGregor’s second foray into boxing since his debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. McGregor was stopped in the tenth round, but he did better than expected, given he was facing one of the best boxers of all time.

Looking ahead, McGregor has not ruled out bouts with KSI and the Paul brothers. KSI has fought in big bouts, recently losing a controversial decision to Tommy Fury. Jake Paul has bounced back from losing to Fury, beating Andre August and Ryan Bourland in first-round KOs. While Logan Paul primarily competes in WWE, he has had boxing bouts against Mayweather and Dillon Danis. McGregor was keen on facing either one of those names later down the line.

“Yeah you know, the YouTube nerds could be like, I would consider that a nixer. Your Uncle’s friend needs a f*cking radiator fitted in his house, so you’ll do a side job, and get side pay. I would consider them guys to be nixers. If I was to pick one out of them, I would say KSI, he has a big name in the U.K.

“The Pauls… That [Mike] Tyson fight is just a strange one to me, I hope Tyson takes his nose off. I’m sure at some stage [I’ll end up fighting one of them], I’m sure at some stage. You know, we’ll go through all of these guys. [Tommy] Fury called me out yesterday, and he beat Jake and he fought KSI so it’s just like another little world isn’t it? I’m open to it. I’ll never say no, I’ll never say no,” McGregor stated
