Jake Paul Stops Ryan Bourland In First-Round KO; Calls Out Canelo - 'Canelo, Stop Ducking'

Jake Paul stopped Ryan Bourland in the first round to secure his second stoppage.

The Problem Child headed into the fight with much confidence after having beaten Andre August in his last bout, a win that was his first against a professional boxer. He repeated the trick once again. Paul fought behind his jab to find his range before unleashing numerous shots to the body.

Then, a right hand over the top landed on the side of Bourland’s head as the former Golden Gloves Champion was backed up. The Problem Child then landed numerous shots to the body as a helpless Bourland was stuck on the ropes, forcing the referee to wave off the fight. After the fight, Paul called out Canelo Alvarez for a super fight.

Paul Reacts

“If you’re not first, you’re last. It’s plain and simple. There’s nothing else to it. Just shake and bake, dodge his little punches and put his sorry ass on the floor. That’s just how we do it from (his native) Ohio.He was supposed to give it to me, right. This guy has 19 fights, super experienced. I guess I have to step up way more. I’m ready for the big leagues.

“I’m really sharp. This is my life now. I’m on the road to becoming a world champion. Canelo, stop ducking. I know you want it. I’m repping Puerto Rico, you’re repping Mexico. So it’s Puerto Rico vs. Mexico. I want Canelo. I want all the big names. Like I said, I’m the face of the sport. Who’s doing more for boxing than me? I prove it time and time again. I’m the most followed boxer, I have the most viral knockouts, period. No one can deny that. I’m here to stay,” Paul said

Serrano Fight Off

However, the show’s main event never went ahead as Amanda Serrano’s featherweight title defense against Nina Meinke was cancelled.

The cancellation happened at the last minute as Serrano suffered an eye injury. Jake Paul revealed she had an “exposed cornea,” but so far, it is unclear how the injury came about. It was a devastating blow for Serrano, who was prevented from fighting in front of her home fans. Serrano tried desperately to enter the ring, but after having failed an eye exam, it was not possible.

“I’m so sorry. I came to fight, I came to put on a show for you guys. One thing I will tell you, I will be back. This is where I will retire. … I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart. I was willing to go out there and still give the fans a show but they just wouldn’t allow me to,” Serrano said

“She’s going to push through this, heal the eye. And we’re going to come back as soon as we can and re-run it. Nina wants that, Amanda wants that. This happened 36 hours ago. We did everything we could to keep the fight on but it wasn’t being approved by the commissions,” Paul added
