Tommy Fury Wants A Rematch With Jake Paul – ‘I Want To Knock Him Out’
Tommy Fury wants to fight Jake Paul again this year.
The pair faced off in Saudi Arabia in February 2023. Fury won a split decision, but he had to get off the canvas to secure the win after getting dropped with a jab. Since then, a rematch has been talked about. The Problem Child offered Fury $20 million for a two-fight deal. It was for a boxing fight, followed by an MMA fight if Paul won the boxing bout. So far, nothing suggests that Fury will take that as Paul has accused the boxer of ducking.
“He’s willing to fight him in boxing and if Jake wins, he’s willing to enter the SmartCage in the PFL with Tommy. There’s a path there where it’s $20 million in guaranteed money,” Paul’s business partner Nakisa Bidarain stated
But Fury has not fought since beating KSI last October. He suffered a hand injury which required surgery. Once Fury gets past that injury, he has set his sights on having the rematch.
Fury On Paul
“I mean I’m injured at the minute as you can see by the knuckle. As soon as that gets better, I’d love to get out here myself. I’m itching seeing all these guys on the chairs, I just want to be in there myself. But injuries happen and it’s a tough thing to come through but we’re all on the right lines and the recovery is going well.”
“I don’t know [what’s next]. I don’t know mate, me and Jake Paul we’ve got to run it back you know. [And] I want to knock him out this time. He’s getting too much momentum again. So, I reckon we’re going to tend to that… I mean if [KSI] wants to come and fight this time maybe [it could happen again]. But star jumps don’t win you fights mate. KSI, good luck with that one on your record mate,” Fury said
Paul On Canelo
Paul has had a resurgence since that Fury loss. He rebuilt his confidence by beating Nate Diaz in his next fight via a unanimous decision. That was then followed by a decision to face professional boxers. He took on Andre August, stopping the cruiserweight in the first round. He followed that up with a first-round KO of Ryan Bourland, another professional boxer. That has justified Paul’s decision to face professional boxers as he set his sights on getting a fight with Canelo Alvarez.
“I’m really sharp. This is my life now. I’m on the road to becoming a world champion. Canelo, stop ducking. I know you want it. I’m repping Puerto Rico, you’re repping Mexico. So it’s Puerto Rico vs. Mexico. I want Canelo. I want all the big names. Like I said, I’m the face of the sport. Who’s doing more for boxing than me? I prove it time and time again. I’m the most followed boxer, I have the most viral knockouts, period. No one can deny that. I’m here to stay,” Paul said
