Keyshawn Davis Names His 2025 Goals

Keyshawn Davis says he wants to fight three times this year, with a bout against Isaac Cruz next.
Davis secured his first world title by defeating Denys Berinchyk with a fourth-round stoppage to become the WBO Lightweight Champion. In his post-fight comments, he made it clear that he wanted to secure the biggest fights with an eye on Gervonta Davis. Davis will defend his belt against Lamont Roach Jr. on March 1 in a defense of his WBA Lightweight Title.
Tanks has said that he will retire this year after boxing three more times. That could be a fight that plays out immediately in the future, but Cruz was the next focus. Cruz is the former WBA Junior Welterweight Champion. He secured the belt after stopping Rolando Romero. Cruz lost the belt in his next fight against Jose Valenzuela. But he bounced back with a win against Angel Fierro in his last fight. Cruz currently fights at 140 pounds, meaning that Keyshawn would either have to move up or Cruz come back down. Cruz has previously boxed at 135 pounds. He only has two losses on his record, the other against Tank Davis.
“This guy I want to fight next, he’s a Mexican. He has a big following. He’s well-known. Both of us can make a lot of money off this fight. I would love to fight Isaac Cruz. [And] I want to be back three more times this year. I did three full rounds this fight, and then my last fight, I did one full round. I haven’t been getting any rounds,” Keyshawn said
Keyshawn’s Options
This naturally raises question marks over who else Keyshawn could face. He has consistently been linked with a fight against Andy Cruz. They fought each other numerous times in the amateurs, with Cruz coming out on top. But Cruz is not a big name, meaning that it is a high risk to take such a fight. Keyshawn has also distanced himself from that bout, feeling that Cruz has not done enough to earn such a shot.
There are also opportunities higher up the weight classes. Keyshawn has spoken about wanting to fight 140 and 147 pounds. There are fights against Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, or even Shakur Stevenson. The latter is now open to the fight after Keyshawn initially ruled it out due to their close relationship. Regardless of where Keyshawn goes next, he has plenty of options.
“What you guys gotta realize is we knew this day was gonna come when we was amateur, bro. And this question is really starting to get sickening, honestly, because I keep telling y’all the same sh-t. But we knew this day was gonna come. We all knew that everybody was gonna want us to fight because we knew how great we are. But no, we’re never gonna fight, so y’all can just stop asking us that question. [I want] anybody that got the balls to step in the ring and fight me,” Keyshawn said
