Fury's Manager Voices Contract Doubts On Joshua Fight
Tyson Fury's manager Spencer Brown says contract delays are creating real doubt about whether the heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua will ever happen.
Netflix dropped a "Coming Soon" trailer for Fury-Joshua during its WWE RAW coverage Tuesday, but Sky Sports reports the date and venue remain unconfirmed as negotiations drag on. Brown told Sky's Dev Sahni his camp's patience is wearing thin. "Everybody's got a bit of doubt in their mind," he said. "If you'd asked me a week ago, I'd have said no, but now it's a little bit concerning that things haven't progressed down the line. We need to get this fight on."
Madison Square Garden Emerges As Wembley Hope Fades
Madison Square Garden appears set to host the fight despite Joshua's push for a UK venue. Brown confirmed the team tried to secure Wembley Stadium but conceded that option is slipping away. "The hope is fading that it's going to be at Wembley," he said. "A decision must be made. Let's get the fight on wherever it is, whether it's in Timbuktu or whether it's in Wembley Stadium."
Brown warned further stalling risks killing public interest in the bout. "You can't keep flogging a dead horse, can you?" he said. "People are getting bored. We're in danger of really boring people."
Fury is ready to start camp immediately, per Brown, who added the former champion wants movement this week. "All I can say is that we're ready to rock and roll, we're ready to fight," he said. "Tyson wants to get into camp this week so we're looking for an announcement this week."
Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in Thailand in July and voiced similar worries about the Joshua fight materializing after that bout. Brown said Fury's confidence has improved recently but acknowledged uncertainty lingers while final details are worked through.
