Alexander Volkanovski has outlined the scenario that could end his career at UFC 333, though the featherweight champion expects to fight on beyond October.
Volkanovski defends his 145-pound title against the undefeated Movsar Evloev on Oct. 24 in Abu Dhabi. Speaking to 10 News, the 38-year-old said he would only hang up the gloves if fight night goes catastrophically wrong.

What Volkanovski Said About His UFC 333 Plans
"If things go terribly wrong, alright, we're done," Volkanovski told the outlet, per Bloody Elbow. "If things go very well, like the last one, with no damage, we'll keep it rolling. I'm taking each fight as it goes. I'm trying to be real with it, but I don't have plans on retiring right now. I'm pretty sure we are gonna keep going."
The Australian reclaimed the featherweight title in his last outing, a rematch win over Diego Lopes at UFC 325. That victory marked his second successful reign as champion after knockout losses to Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria had derailed his run atop the division.

Evloev carries a perfect 20-0 record into the title shot. The Russian challenger earned his contender status with a majority decision over Lerone Murphy in March, adding to previous wins over former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling and Lopes.
A win over Evloev would give Volkanovski three straight victories since the Topuria loss and further cement his legacy as one of the division's all-time greats. The weigh-ins for UFC 333 are scheduled for Oct. 23.
