Corrections Policy
boxingnews.com corrects errors promptly and transparently. If you spot something on the site that is factually wrong — a record, a result, a date, a quote, anything — we want to know.
How to Report a Correction
Email editors@boxingnews.com with:
- The URL of the article containing the error.
- The specific passage or claim you believe is wrong.
- What you believe the correct information is, and a link to a source we can verify against (a sanctioning body, promoter announcement, official record, or established outlet).
You can also reach us through the contact form. We aim to acknowledge correction requests within one business day and to act on verified corrections within 24 hours.
How We Handle Corrections
Not every fix looks the same. We treat corrections at two levels of severity:
- Substantive corrections — a factual claim, quote, number, or result was materially wrong. We update the article, append a dated Correctionnote at the bottom of the article explaining what was changed and when, and update the article’s modified timestamp. Where the error affected the headline or lede, we flag the correction at the top of the piece as well.
- Minor fixes— a typo, a broken link, a formatting glitch, a non-substantive rewording. We fix these silently, but the article’s modified timestamp is still updated so returning readers and syndication partners can see the piece has been touched.
When a correction is severe enough that the original claim was published in error, we do not quietly delete the piece. The article stays live with the correction note attached so the record of what was said, when, and how it was fixed is preserved.
Deletions vs Corrections
We do not remove articles from the site simply because they are unflattering to a fighter, promoter, or partner. Article removals happen only where legally required, where we published a claim we cannot verify against any source, or where a subject has raised a valid privacy issue. Where an article is removed, the URL returns a 410 (or 404) so search engines drop it from their index.
Syndicated Copies
Where an article has been syndicated to a distribution partner (Microsoft MSN, news aggregators, republishers), corrections applied on boxingnews.com propagate to the syndicated copy through the same feed that delivered the original. Partners typically re-ingest updated articles within 24 hours.
Correction Log
Substantive corrections that materially changed a story’s meaning are logged here. This section will be populated as corrections are issued; the absence of entries below means no correction has yet risen to the threshold for public logging, not that no fix has ever been made (minor fixes are handled at the article level as described above).
