Hearn On Fury-Joshua: UK Plans Face American Push

Eddie Hearn has conceded that Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua will probably land in the United States after weeks of back-channel negotiations to move the fight from its contracted British venue.

The Matchroom promoter told Bad Left Hook that all parties now favour staging the bout in New York, though he and Joshua's team have not yet agreed to alter the terms they signed for a UK event. "It seems like everybody is adamant that the fight takes place in New York," Hearn said. "I mean, there isn't really any consideration, there's no willingness to speak to the government, Sadiq Khan, Transport for London. It's just like 'we want to do this fight in America.'"

Contract Renegotiation Stalls Official Announcement

Hearn explained that neither Netflix nor adviser Turki Alalshikh has shown interest in exploring the British option, leaving his camp to negotiate revised financial terms if the venue switches. He said Fury has already accepted the American location, while Joshua's side is pressing for contract changes before signing off on the move.

The promoter acknowledged his frustration with the process but stopped short of blocking the fight outright. "We don't want to change the contract," he said. "We don't want to change the venue or the host country, but we will talk to you — if you're that desperate for it, we'll try to find a way to help, but it's disappointing."

No official date or city has been confirmed. Hearn said the impasse has dragged on for a month with no fresh discussion of keeping the bout in the UK.
