Stevenson Taps To Demopoulos After Boxing vs. MMA Claims

Boxing champion Shakur Stevenson submitted to UFC fighter Vanessa Demopoulos during a grappling session in Las Vegas this week, according to BJPenn.com.

Stevenson, who signed with Zuffa Boxing earlier this year, has repeatedly dismissed mixed martial arts fighters in recent months. The boxer engaged in a social media exchange with former UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria after Topuria suggested he could beat Stevenson in a crossover bout. The remarks drew criticism from UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier and other fighters.

Stevenson Submitted During UFC Training Session

Video posted to social media shows Demopoulos catching Stevenson in a submission hold during training. "I ain't never been put in that kind of situation. I'm good in boxing," Stevenson said afterward, per the report.

Stevenson attended UFC 329 cageside for Conor McGregor's abbreviated return against Max Holloway. Despite his recent comments about MMA, the boxer appeared to take the grappling session in stride.

Stevenson's next boxing match under Zuffa has not been announced. Potential matchups include bouts with Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney. Demopoulos fights Yazmin Jaurgui on September 26 on the Raul Rosas Jr. vs. Raoni Barcelos undercard, looking to end a three-fight losing streak.
