Parnasse On UFC Debut At Perfect Time

Salahdine Parnasse believes his UFC debut arrives exactly when it should.

The former two-division KSW champion faces Dan Hooker in the UFC Paris main event Saturday at Accor Arena. At 28 years old with 25 professional fights behind him, Parnasse told UFC.com he enters the Octagon with the right blend of skill and seasoning. "I'm arriving with maturity," he said. "I have all of this baggage from fighting in other places. I have everything I need to show off in the cage."

Why Parnasse Waited To Join UFC

Parnasse could have joined the promotion years earlier but held out for proper compensation, as MMA Mania reports. He instead signed a lucrative deal to remain with KSW, where he captured titles at featherweight and lightweight. Earlier this year he stopped Kenny Cross with a body shot at MVP MMA 1, his first appearance on American soil. UFC finally met his asking price shortly after.

The promotion rarely hands debut fighters main-event slots, let alone against ranked opposition. Hooker sits inside the top ten at lightweight and has shared the cage with some of the division's most dangerous names. Parnasse enters as a heavy betting favourite but acknowledges the challenge. "There's a reason why he is so high in the rankings," he said. "I think that, paired with me, makes it a perfect fight because we both like to go in there and put on a great show."

Parnasse carries a 23-2 record with 15 finishes and remains unbeaten in seven lightweight outings. His only loss since 2021 came in a KSW welterweight title bid against Adrian Bartosinski in December 2023. A win over Hooker would plant him immediately in the rankings conversation in one of UFC's deepest weight classes.
