Josh Hokit identifies Tom Aspinall weakness ahead of title unification
Josh Hokit believes Tom Aspinall's fight-or-flight instincts will cost him against the right opponent.
The undefeated heavyweight contender posted on X that Aspinall's aggressive tendencies create exploitable openings, per Sherdog. "He's to offensive minded.. that makes things exciting until a proper athlete is able to compete with his athleticism.. his strength is also his weakness," Hokit wrote after watching footage of the champion's 2022 stoppage of Alexander Volkov in London.
Hokit's championship path blocked by Aspinall-Gane rematch
Hokit extended his UFC record to 4-0 with a decision over Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250, but a title shot remains out of reach while Aspinall prepares for a unification bout with interim champion Ciryl Gane. The American previously suggested the promotion cut Aspinall entirely, claiming Gane "made Tom quit" when the two met last year.
Hokit has spent recent weeks calling for a fight with Alex Pereira after multiple confrontations at pressers and fighter hotels. His 10-0 record and polarizing antics have made him one of the division's most talked-about contenders, though he's yet to face a ranked opponent in the top five.
Aspinall's next bout with Gane is expected to take place later this year, with no official date announced.
