boxingnews.com is an independent combat sports newsroom. These are the editorial standards every article on the site is expected to meet — regardless of whether it was written, edited, or reviewed by our staff.
What We Cover
Our editorial scope is professional boxing and mixed martial arts: breaking news, fight results, pre-fight previews and analysis, betting picks and odds analysis, fighter and promoter profiles, and long-form features. We cover the sport globally, with a lean toward the four major sanctioning bodies (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO) and the biggest MMA promotions (UFC, PFL, Bellator, ONE).
Sourcing
Every factual claim in a boxingnews.com article is sourced. When we report a fighter statement, a promoter announcement, or a purse figure, we name the person or outlet the information came from — either inline in the copy or via a direct link to the primary source. We do not publish unsourced rumours, and we treat single-source scoops as developing stories until a second outlet or the fighter’s camp confirms them.
Where copy references social-media posts, we link to the post itself. Where we quote a press conference or podcast, we identify the outlet and, where useful, timestamp the clip.
Fact-Checking
Fight results, records, weight classes, and title lineages are cross-checked against the official sanctioning bodies (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO), the promoter’s official card, and established secondary references — ESPN, Ring Magazine, BoxRec, Tapology, and Sherdog for MMA. Where a public record conflicts with what a promoter or corner has said, we surface the conflict rather than picking a side.
Betting content is checked against live sportsbook lines at the time of publication and re-checked before events start. Odds and lines move quickly; we timestamp betting pieces and note when a line has shifted materially from the time of writing.
Opinion vs Fact

Automated and AI-Assisted Content
A significant share of what we publish is produced automatically. Every automated article carries a note explaining how it was produced, shown directly beneath the story. Where a piece is built on someone else’s reporting or on a press-conference quote, the originating outlet or source is credited and linked.
These pieces are constrained rather than free-form. A preview cannot publish unless the matchup has been confirmed against an independent source — Wikipedia, an official promotion schedule, or our own curated fight database — and an unverified matchup is held for manual review instead. Result reports are written from the recorded outcome in our database rather than from a model’s recollection. Where a generator cannot ground a claim in source data, it is built to omit the claim.
Automated reporting can still contain errors, and not every automated piece is read by a person before it goes live. If you find a mistake, tell us and we will fix it under our corrections policy. Long-form features, interviews, and opinion pieces are written by people.
Plagiarism and Attribution
We do not plagiarise. Direct quotes are quoted and attributed. Where a story is broken by another outlet, we credit that outlet in the copy and, where appropriate, link back to the original report. We do not scrape or rewrite other publishers’ articles as our own. Our fighter and event data pipelines source from public records (Wikidata, sanctioning bodies, promoter announcements) and never from scraping a competitor’s editorial product.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial decisions are independent of our commercial partnerships. Ticketmaster, DAZN, and sportsbook affiliate links inside articles do not influence which stories we cover, how we cover them, or which fighters we back. Editors and Bylines
boxingnews.com articles are published under the byline of the staff writer or editor responsible for the piece, or under a shared newsroom byline (“Boxing News Staff”, “MMA News Staff”) when the piece is produced by the newsroom collectively. Author profile pages list our named writers and their areas of coverage.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it, and we say so. Substantive corrections are dated and appended to the affected article as a “Correction” note.
