Martin’s last fight was a unanimous-decision win over Artem Harutyunyan. Although that may have been the case, Martin’s defense was exposed with Harutyunyan having a lot of success.

However, Harutyunyan’s decision to take a knee in the final round proved crucial as Martin walked out victorious.

And yet, Martin’s stock had been questioned in the aftermath as the big names in the division were vocal about the American’s performance.

"I know where you at now, though, boy. Yeah, the fight over. Come on, man, let’s be real be real. “Be real with yourself. Bro, I was saying that to everybody in the whole entire world. I was saying that yeah, but that was a good a** fight right there, though. He pulled it out," Keyshawn Davis said

In contrast, Lomachenko’s last bout was a defeat to Devin Haney via a unanimous decision. And yet, the majority of the boxing community felt the Ukrainian should have been given the decision.

While Loma was targeting a rematch with Haney, it appears that the latter will move up to junior welterweight.

And in the process of doing so, face Regis Prograis for the WBC belt. Should he come out victorious, then a unification bout with Teofimo Lopez could follow as the ‘Takeover’ possesses the WBO belt.

Therefore, with both fighters having something to prove, it could become an intriguing match-up. And if it were to occur, Martin has backed himself to stop the three-division champion.

"Knockout. Me knocking him out," Martin

The chances of that happening, though, are unlikely. Facing Martin would offer nothing by way of securing a belt.

Meanwhile, Loma’s desire to become undisputed would be better served by targeting the other big names in the division.

A fight with Shakur Stevenson, or George Kambosos, would be more competitive and offer a bigger reward.

So for now, a fight between Martin and Loma is some way off. You can stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the world of boxing by visiting boxingblitz right here.
