Smith Earns POTN After 60-Second KO At UFC Vegas 124
Elijah Smith pocketed a performance bonus for his 60-second knockout at UFC Vegas 124, one of four fighters to earn an extra $100,000 Saturday night.
Smith stopped Davey Smith inside the opening minute, as BJPENN.com first reported from the post-fight press conference at the Apex. UFC officials also awarded performance bonuses to Thomas Peterson, who finished Gabriel Lorenco by third-round TKO, and a Fight of the Night split between Johnny Walker and Waldo Cortes-Acosta for their heavyweight main event war.
Walker Comes Back To Stop Cortes-Acosta
Walker and Cortes-Acosta earned the fight bonus after a wild back-and-forth affair that saw both men have their moments. Cortes-Acosta landed a knockdown in the first round after Walker opened with heavy low kicks, according to the report, but the Brazilian came back to finish the bout midway through the third.
The co-main event saw Tatiana Suarez extend her winning streak to three with a decision over Virna Jandiroba, outgrappling the Brazilian over three rounds. Suarez did not receive a bonus.
Peterson's third-round TKO of Lorenco rounded out the performance awards. All four bonuses carried the standard $100,000 payout.
