DAZN Officially Announces Haney Signing
DAZN has signed welterweight titleholder Devin Haney to an exclusive multi-fight deal, the streaming platform confirmed Thursday.
The announcement comes after negotiations for a bout with Shakur Stevenson collapsed, according to Bad Left Hook. Haney holds the WBO welterweight strap after stopping Brian Norman last November but has been inactive since.
What Haney's DAZN Deal Means For Future Fights
Haney told the platform he wanted to remove any barriers to landing the sport's biggest fights. "I'm at a point in my career where I want the biggest challenges and the fights the fans want to see," he said, per the announcement. "This agreement removes any doubt or uncertainty about my ability to make the major fights in boxing."
A DAZN executive reportedly said the deal positions the network to deliver marquee matchups for the 27-year-old welterweight. Haney added he is focused and ready for whoever gets the call next.
The former lightweight unified champion has now gone nearly a year without a ring appearance. His next opponent and fight date remain unannounced.
