Magomedov Replaces Rasulov Against Gabriel At ONE Fight Night 49
An unbeaten Dagestani lightweight has landed a main event slot for his promotional debut after a late injury forced ONE Championship to shuffle its November 6 card.
Magomed Magomedov will replace Alibeg Rasulov opposite Lucas Gabriel in the lightweight headliner at ONE Fight Night 49, which airs live in U.S. primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, according to BJ Penn. Rasulov pulled out with an undisclosed injury.
Unbeaten Magomedov Gets Main Event Debut
Magomedov brings a 15-0 record into the cage, with his last five victories all coming by stoppage. The 26-year-old Gabriel has not lost in six straight ONE appearances, including a June win over former lightweight champion Ok Rae Yoon at ONE Fight Night 44. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt also submitted Gadzhimurad Amirzhanov during his unbeaten promotional run.
A victory for Gabriel could position him for a title shot. Christian Lee defends the lightweight strap against Tye Ruotolo at The Inner Circle 37 just hours before Gabriel enters the ring in Bangkok.
ONE also announced two additional replacements for the November card. Kongthoranee Sor Sommai steps in against Taiki Naito in flyweight kickboxing after Johan Estupinan withdrew, while Nontachai Jitmuangnon replaces Katsuki Kitano opposite Felipe Lobo in a bantamweight Muay Thai rematch.
