Ric Flair Hospitalized After Fall Outside Florida Restaurant
Pro wrestling legend Ric Flair was transported to a Tampa hospital Friday morning after falling outside a local restaurant and suffering facial injuries.
Flair, 77, had been at Wagamama in Tampa when he stood up and attempted to cross the street, leaving his phone and drink behind, according to TMZ. He then collapsed, hitting his face and sustaining multiple lacerations. Medical personnel responded to the scene and transported him for treatment. Initial reports indicate he may have suffered a concussion in the fall, BJPenn.com reports.
Flair Canceled Expo Appearance Hours Earlier
The incident occurred just hours after Flair announced he was pulling out of a scheduled appearance at the Washington State Horror Convention this weekend due to health complications. He has been restricted to three to four hours of flying time following the recent discovery of a blood clot in his leg. The clot represents a similar condition to the one that ended NFL quarterback Jalen Hurts' season. It remains unclear whether the clot and Friday's fall are connected.
Flair was diagnosed with skin cancer earlier this year and suffered a heart attack during his final wrestling match in July 2022. Regarded by many peers and journalists as the greatest professional wrestler of all time, his career spanned five decades and multiple promotions. He was the first two-time WWE Hall of Fame inductee.
