Canelo-Mbilli Faces Questions Over Riyadh Security

Canelo Alvarez’s October 31 title fight against WBC middleweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super middleweight champion Christian Mbilli is surrounded by doubt, with security worries in the region hanging over the Riyadh card and a separate sanctioning dispute affecting a world title bout further down the bill.

On October 5, the U.S. Mission in Saudi Arabia put out a security alert cautioning about the possibility of drone or missile strikes and telling American citizens to remain alert. The warning has led to talk that the entire event could be pulled out of Saudi Arabia and restaged in Las Vegas on November 21.

For now, that is only speculation. Nobody has officially announced a postponement, a new date or a change of venue, and the card is still listed for Riyadh on October 31.

The pasted piece mentions the undercard title dispute without giving details, so I haven’t described it beyond that. If you paste the rest, I can add it.
