Gervonta Davis Vs. Frank Martin Predictions - 'I Say A Late Stoppage'

Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin headline this Saturday’s PBC PPV card on Amazon Prime Video.

It is Davis’ first fight since stopping Ryan Garcia in the seventh round last year. The win made Davis the ‘face of boxing.’ However, his progress has stalled since then. He was arrested for breaking the terms of his house arrest in relation to a hit-and-run. Tank served 44 days in jail as his career stalled. He faces arguably the biggest test of his career in Martin. Frank is an undefeated southpaw who is 18-0.

He is Ryan Garcia’s stablemate, who could provide him valuable advice on approaching the fight. Martin is chasing his first world title, knowing a win makes him a PPV star. His last fight was a tough win over Artem Harutyunyan. Martin was being outboxed for most parts of the fight. However, he came back stronger in the back end of the fight.

Artem took a knee in the final round, which was enough to give Martin a unanimous decision win on the cards. The winner knows they have massive unifications at 135, with Shakur Stevenson and Vasiliy Lomachenko being realistic fights. Here are the predictions from some boxing insiders heading into the fight.

Predictions

“I worry about Frank, too, where you have a guy [Gervonta Davis] that is comfortable, and he doesn’t mind playing catch-up. See, that’s the thing. You don’t realize that. [Davis] is an apex predator for a reason because he sets traps…As the fight goes on, all the hype around the fight, all those bright lights and just the presence of being in there with Tank, a guy that can punch you hard with both hands, it’s going to gas out Frank Martin. I say late stoppage from Tank,” Tim Bradley

“Frank Martin is a very good fighter. He’s got good skills, is very athletic, has good speed, and solid power, and he’s slick. I like the match-up because he’s one of the top guys in the division. He thinks he can beat Tank. He can’t beat Tank. I’m backing my guy [Tank] 1000%. Tank Davis is going to stop Frank Martin,” Leonard Ellerbe

“Tanks going to put up a fight. He’s a great fighter, but I feel like Frank’s definitely going to take it,” Errol Spence Jr.

Further Predictions

“I like both guys, but it’s hard to go against Tank. He has kind of the full package. He’s fast, he’s strong, and a lot of people out there look past the fact that he’s very fundamentally sound. He’s used to these big events. This is going to be the first time that we see Frank Martin in a big show. A lot of times, just being in a big show like this will cripple a lot of guys, especially if you’re walking in with an animal like Tank. So, it’s going to be a lot for him to try and deal with. You’re talking about skill, power, and atmosphere. So, I give it to Tank,” Andre Berto

“I think that ‘Tank’ beats him. I mean we haven’t seen Frank Martin at the highest level, the elite level. Not saying that he isn’t elite. But, we just haven’t seen him. Do I think he’s going to go in there and lay down? No. I think he going to go in there to get his respect. And he gon’ fight back,” Devin Haney
