WBC Bans Ryan Garcia After His Controversial X Posts – ‘This Is A Mess’
Ryan Garcia has sparked controversy with a series of posts on X.
Garcia shared various posts with suggestions that he was using racist language against African Americans and discriminating against certain groups. It is claimed Garcia used the n-word. Further tweets allegedly disparaged George Floyd, Mexicans and Muslims, to name a few. While those tweets have been removed, Garcia has received backlash.
“So a black man raped me and it’s okay and everyone acts like it never happened,” Garcia
“Lil Wayne said I can say the n-word.”
“Let’s go bring George Floyd back to life and kill that [man] again.”
Garcia’s Tweets
Elsewhere, Henry Garcia expects Devin Haney to duck a rematch with his son.
The pair fought on April 20 as Garcia won a majority decision. He dropped Haney three times on his way to shocking the world. However, following the win, Garcia tested positive for Ostarine. Two VADA tests showed the banned substance as Garcia tried to prove his innocence. A hair follicle came back negative, while Garcia’s supplements detected Ostarine.
However, since the supplements were unsealed, it was not conclusive evidence. Garcia received a one-year ban. Haney indicated that he wants the rematch but may take some time off. He is suing Garcia for a loss of earnings to recoup any financial loss he has suffered. That sets up the narrative for a massive rematch next year, with huge paydays. While that may be true, Henry does not see Haney running things back.
Garcia’s Future
“There ain’t going to be a rematch because they don’t really want it. They don’t know which way to go. First, they [Bill & Devin Haney] said, ‘No, I’ve been hurt.’ Now, they’re like, ‘Wait a minute. We can make more money. So, maybe we should say, let’s do the rematch.
“They don’t really know, but deep down inside, they don’t want it. It would be really bad [for Team Haney]. And maybe that’s why he wants the rematch because he [Haney] wants more money because his popularity went down. His stock went down. You know that. So, it’s like, ‘What else is there? Let’s make as much money as we can, and let’s get out,” Garcia said
Haney’s Stock
Haney’s stock has dropped. He was ordered to box his WBC mandatory Sandor Martin. Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing failed to put in a purse bid, as Top Rank was the only bidder. They made a bid of $2.42 million to win the rights for the fight. However, Haney responded by not taking the fight, as he was made the ‘Champion in Recess.’ The Dream has been linked with a move up to 147.
Meanwhile, the other big fights at 140 against Teofimo Lopez and Isaac Cruz are now much tougher to make. Haney has less leverage, while he also does not hold a belt. The Dream has also shown his weakness in that he cannot stand toe-to-toe with a fighter, who is the same size and has power. But even if the Haney fight does not happen, Henry has outlined plans for his son’s future. Garcia has the benefit of having a huge fanbase, making him the A-side in any negotiations.
“I would something like that [rematch with Gervonta Davis], Teofimo or Isaac Cruz definitely in 10 months, and they all want it. So, we’re here to fight. Yes, of course [The Fundora fight]. I’ve seen Ryan fight guys that tall and that weight, and he’s dropped them really bad. I’m telling you, that left hook is dangerous, and he’s got a good right, too. I’ve seen it. If he said it, I believe him,” Garcia added
