Garcia Wants ‘Rainbow Head’ Sean O’Malley – ‘Be Prepared To Bleed’
Ryan Garcia is willing to box Sean O’Malley following his biggest career win against Devin Haney.
Ryan secured a majority decision, dropping Haney three times to give The Dream his first career loss. Garcia was a huge underdog coming into the fight, given the pre-fight build-up. He admitted to smoking weed and drinking alcohol. His social media activity also raised concerns, which was compounded when Ryan missed weight.
However, Garcia defied the odds to become the ‘face of boxing.’ After his win, O’Malley responded by mocking Garcia’s shoulder roll. Ryan repeatedly turned his back sideways to block Haney’s shots. Since Ryan had not fully turned his back, it was deemed legal. The strategy meant Haney could only hit Garcia on the side, with the punches having no impact. Now that the dust has settled, O’Malley wants Ryan in the boxing ring.
O’Malley On Garcia
“A boxing fight [with Ryan Garcia] is possible. For sure. I’m not there yet, I’ve still got to become bigger [as a star]. Two more…sick performances and we’ll be able to talk about going to the ring… I do feel like I could pull numbers. They told me, you can do a boxing fight one hundred percent if it makes us enough money. So the option is there it just has to be able to make enough money,” Sean O’Malley said
Garica and O’Malley are the two biggest people in their sport. Ryan sold over 1.2 million PPVs for his fight with Gervonta Davis. The PPV figures for the Haney fight have not been announced. However, it could also have produced a solid gate. O’Malley is one of the UFC’s biggest names.
He is coming off two spectacular wins. He ended Aljamain Sterling’s nine-fight win streak, knocking him out at UFC 292 last August to win the UFC Bantamweight Title. That was followed by avenging his loss to Marlon Vera at UFC 299. Garcia was ready to face Sean following the UFC fighter’s comments.
Garcia Responds
“RAINBOW CACA BRAIN WANTS TO BOX. BE PREPARED TO BLEED RAINBOW,” Garcia said
If that fight does not go ahead, Garcia has set his sights on Errol Spence Jr., Isaac Cruz, or Sebastian Fundora. A fight with Spence would be intriguing. They are former stablemates, as Spence trained with Derrick James before leaving. Garcia criticized Spence after reports that he did not pay James what he was owed.
“He ain’t with Derrick James. You fought, you don’t want to pay him some money….It’s all business but still… I pay him more on a fight I make less. Come on…He has been with you your whole career. [What’s] wrong with you,” Garcia said
Facing Cruz is a big PPV event, given their connections with Mexico. Since Cruz fights on the front foot, that plays into Garcia’s style.
“I feel like I can knock out Pitbull without five rounds. The jab because he’s coming forward anyway. He’s going to have to eat something,” Garcia stated
While a bout with Fundora offers Garcia a shot at the WBO and WBC Junior Middleweight Belts, given that Garcia’s stock has risen so massively, he is in a position to call the shots.
