Spence, Crawford Vie For Fundora Fight Opportunity - '2x Undisputed B Side Champ'

WBO president Paco Valcarcel will order Sebastian Fundora to face Terence Crawford next.

The news comes after Fundora secured a split decision win over Tim Tszyu. The southpaw won Tszyu’s WBO belt and the vacant WBC belt, making him the unified champion. Under the terms of the WBO, Fundora must face Crawford, the WBO Super Champion at 147. That means Bud is the mandatory for the champion at 154.

However, Errol Spence Jr. is also in the running to face Fundora. After the champion’s win over Tszyu, Spence walked into the ring, saying he intended to face the southpaw. If that does happen, Fundora would have to vacate his WBO belt.

That would allow Fundora to face Spence or his WBC mandatory Serhii Bohachuk for the belt. Even though Spence was beaten by Crawford in a one-sided fight last year, he is a much bigger PPV star. That means Bud would have to fight Josh Kelly for the vacant WBO belt at 154 pounds. By the looks of it, Fundora’s team want Spence.

Fundora’s Next Fight

“He [Tszyu] will get a rematch, but not now. Now, I need to maximize the most money for the fighter. I believe he deserves it. That is correct. Crawford will not sell out 90,000 people in Dallas. Yes [Crawford is the better fighter], but everybody waits. Why not Crawford? Let him wait one time or maybe twice, and then he go,” Sampson Lewkowicz (Fundora’s promoter)

In response, Fundora appears keen on fighting Crawford next. Bud is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. He is undefeated and the only person, alongside Naoya Inoue, to become undisputed in two weight classes. He wants the chance to beat a future hall-of-famer.

“Errol Spence is a great fighter, and it’s a match made in heaven, but Terence Crawford is the best fighter in the world. I would like to fight him. I’ve had a whole year. I’d been working on my defense, working on using my jab. It all came out in the fight. It’s about maximizing the profit for the fighter, and it would be stupid for me not to do that for him. Besides that, boxing is a business. Spence is a very good fighter anyway, especially at 154. So, I believe he will have a shot,” Fundora stated

Spence Or Crawford

That has resulted in Spence and Crawford firing shots at each other. There are question marks over whether Spence should get a title shot over Bud after his last performance. Crawford dropped him three times on his way to being stopped. He also never managed to get the rematch, giving Crawford a bigger claim for the belt. However, since boxing is also about generating the most money for each fighter, Spence can outdo Crawford in that regard. That has not stopped both fighters from having their say.

“@ErrolSpenceJr sorry buddy you gotta wait in line sir,” Crawford said

“Idk champ I don’t do lines,” Spence stated
