Danny Garcia Launches His Promotional Company; Outlines Hi Future

Danny Garcia has launched his promotional company Swift Promotions.

He will launch his first boxing event in Atlantic City on June 15. It is vital that Garcia prepares for his life outside of boxing since he has not boxed since 2022. Errol Spence Jr. is doing something similar, as he has signed Frank Martin to his management company. Spence then promoted Martin for his fight with Gervonta Davis, stating that this could be a field where he finds himself after retirement. The same could be said for Garcia.

“I’m honored to launch Swift Promotions on Saturday, June 15 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The venue has been home to many historic fights and we’re thrilled to promote our first show there. I’ve wanted to start promoting for a couple of years and this is a great opportunity to showcase the top young talent in the Philadelphia area in addition to supporting the young ‘Boricua’ prospects,” Garcia said

Outside of that, Garcia wants to run things back with Errol Spence Jr. and Keith Thurman. Garcia lost to both fighters. He faced off against Keith Thurman in 2017, as the latter became the Unified Welterweight Champion. It was a split decision defeat, as Garcia felt hard done by. As for the Spence fight, Garcia was dominated in a unanimous decision loss in 2020.

Garcia’s Reacts

Garcia has not been in the ring since beating Jose Benavidez Jr. in 2022. While his last fight was at 154 pounds, Garcia’s walking-around weight is 168 pounds. It is vital that he keeps himself in shape to avoid going through a gruelling camp. But his absence has also been due to welcoming a new child into his family. Once he is ready to come back, he wants to face those two.

“I would love to fight Errol Spence for a rematch, I would love to avenge at least one of my losses before this is all said and done. If I can get a rematch with one of those guys and come back and fight another fight, that would be crazy. I want to fight, but right now it’s a timing thing. I’m not getting younger, but I’m also not damaging my body. When I fought Benavidez in 2022, my mindset was, ‘I’m gonna fight in 2023 and fight in 2024, and let me see what I wanna do,” Garcia said

However, getting those fights also depends on Spence and Thurman. Spence has not boxed since getting knocked out last year at the hands of Terence Crawford. He underwent cataract surgery on his right eye. He is being linked with a fight against Sebastian Fundora for October. There has been no official announcement. At the same time, Spence is making plans for his life outside of boxing.

Garcia’s Return

He has entered the world of promotion, having signed Frank Martin to his management company. He was on hand to represent Martin during his fight with Gervonta Davis. Meanwhile, Thurman has only boxed once since losing to Manny Pacquiao last year. He defeated Mario Barrios in 2022.

However, a combination of injuries and inactivity have stalled his career. He was meant to face Tim Tszyu in March. But Thurman pulled out with a bicep injury, leaving serious questions about his future. He is not getting any younger, as he is 35. He has done some work in the boxing media, as he is not guaranteed to return. Regardless, Garcia wants to kick on as soon as possible.

“Right now, I have to get a fight and build it into that. I want to fight and then do a big fight. I’m a PBC fighter, and right now they don’t have a schedule. They’re basically doing just a fight at a time, that’s what it looks like. So I don’t think there’s no date after the Gervonta Davis [June 15] fight, so right now it’s about timing. I could take two years off and these guys still won’t have my resume,” Garcia added
