In some latest boxing news, Tim Bradley is confident that Oleksandr Usyk can get the better of Tyson Fury.

The two boxers have agreed to face each other for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world, subject to a fight date. As of now, Fury is seen as the slight favorite given the height and weight difference.

Meanwhile, Usyk’s southpaw stance and high boxing IQ is seen as somewhat of an equalizer. Although that may be the case, Bradley has given the Ukrainian a chance of pulling off an upset.

The former world champion highlighted Fury’s weaknesses of fighting in straight lines, as shown by the recent Deontay Wilder fights.

And that could pose some problems moving forward if Usyk could close the distance and target the Gypsy King’s body without getting caught.

Bradley On Fury-Usyk

“I was watching Fury the other night, and he’s a big guy, and we pay attention to what he does well, but we don’t pay attention to what he doesn’t do well. He boxes in a lot of straight lines, he does. Yeah, he can box laterally, but he boxes in a lot of straight lines, and he’s been boxing in a lot of straight lines recently.

“If you go back and watch him against Wilder and watch the first couple of rounds. You see when he’s stepping back, he’s stepping back in a straight line. You’re going to see that if he continues that, Usyk will follow him out. He’s going to be looking to follow him out because Fury’s feet aren’t set. He’s not punching, and he’s just stepping back and trying to get out of range, and you’re going to see Usyk attacking his body a whole hell of a lot because he’s so tall, so big,” Bradley stated

Nevertheless, Fury has shown that he does rise to the level of opposition that he faces. And against Wilder, it was no secret that the boxer was not the most technically gifted. Therefore, the desire move back was summed up by the need to avoid the American’s right hand. But against Usyk, this cannot be case.

Fury’s Mandatory Obligations

Meanwhile, Fury will be required to defend his belt following the Francis Ngannou bout. The WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman had confirmed that Fury’s belt will be on the line moving forward, given that the belt is not at stake in the Ngannou fight.

And with the Usyk fight already agreed, the Gypsy King will be required to make defences of the belt after Usyk. And yet, if Fury does manage to beat Usyk and secure all the belts, there are question marks over whether there is any need for the boxer to stay active.

And that could lead to the belts being relinquished. But in the meantime, Sulaiman made the WBC’s postion clear.

“Yes, Tyson Fury is the WBC heavyweight champion regardless, and we are proud, and he’s just been waiting to have the great fight that everyone is expecting,” said WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman to Secondsout when asked if WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will be required to defend his belt after his fights with Ngannou & Usyk. “Yes, he must [defend them],” Sulaiman stated
