Ryan Garcia will reportedly get back into the ring in November-December for his debut at 140 pounds.

That is according to Dan Rafael. The opponent being lined up is Pedro Campa. The former has an impressive record of 35 wins, three losses and one draw.

His last fight was a knockout win over Javier Franco. As for Garcia, this would be his debut at junior welterweight. King Ryan’s last bout was a loss to Gervonta Davis, as he was stopped in the seventh round at 135.

In the aftermath, Garcia moved up to 140 and hired Derrick James as his trainer. Garcia had been linked with fighting Ohara Davies for the WBA title at 140, just as the latter’s fight with Rolando Romero appeared to have stalled.

Davies is the mandatory for Rolly’s belt, but the latter submitted medical documents which called off the purse bids as the status of the fight remains unclear.

Although the fight could still go on, Garcia could be waiting in the wings for the title shot if that fight breaks down. But in the meantime, the focus is on Campa

Garcia’s Return

“Ryan [Garcia] is going to be back in November or December. Even though he and Golden Boy are embroiled in a lawsuit, they’re still holding their nose and working with each other.

“One of the leading candidates to get that fight was going to be Pedro Campa. Pedro Campa is a fighter with a couple of losses, but he gave Teofimo Lopez a pretty solid fight when Teofimo had his first fight when he moved up to 140 lbs.

“I  don’t think Ohara Davies gets the nod [for Ryan Garcia’s opponent], only because he’s in line fight in his next fight for the [WBA light welterweight] title,” Rafael said

Regardless of who Garcia faces next, it is vital that he gets a win under his belt. That will boost the fighter’s confidence with his new trainer moving forward, which is what Garcia needs following the Davis loss.
