WBO Clears Navarrete vs Foster Unification

The WBO has approved Emanuel Navarrete's three-belt unification against O'Shaquie Foster for October 24th in San Antonio, clearing the final hurdle for one of boxing's best available matchups.

WBO president Gustavo Olivieri announced today that the sanctioning body will allow the belt to be at stake, provided the winner faces mandatory challenger Charly Suarez within 180 days, according to Bad Left Hook. Suarez has waited over a year for a shot at Navarrete after a controversial stoppage loss that replay suggested he won.

Navarrete vs Foster Unification Set For Fall

Navarrete, 40-2-1 with 33 knockouts, enters off a career-best performance in February's destruction of Eduardo Nunez. Foster, 25-3 with 12 knockouts, has been a consistent threat at featherweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super featherweight for years.

Suarez, who carries a 19-0 record with 11 knockouts, already stepped aside once to allow the Nunez fight to proceed. The Filipino contender was promised an immediate rematch after what appeared to be a premature stoppage in his favour against Navarrete.

The fight remains unofficial pending final confirmation from both camps. All three belts will be on the line when the unification takes place this October.
