Teofimo Lopez believes he has fixed what went wrong in his loss to Shakur Stevenson and can capture Rolly Romero's welterweight title this weekend.

Lopez told reporters that improved mental preparation sets this camp apart from the Stevenson fight, according to Bad Left Hook. He returned to track work to sharpen his reflexes and spent more time refining technique. The former lightweight and junior welterweight champion said he feels at the proper weight for the first time in over a year.

The 28-year-old challenger said welterweight offers goals he lacked at junior welterweight after beating Josh Taylor. "I have this vision that's stuck on me and I'm so focused on it that I know that I can make that happen," he said, per the report. "I know it's in the grasp of my hands and it starts August 22. But for this, this is just an apology to myself…for not trusting myself enough, not going with my gut."

Lopez expects Romero to press forward after the champion upset Ryan Garcia in Times Square earlier this year. He said both fighters want the win badly and predicted an exciting fight. Lopez Sr. told media the public argument he and his son had during a recent podcast appearance helped clear the air. The younger Lopez said he wanted fans to see the real struggle behind a championship run.
