Shakur Stevenson On Tank Davis' Insecurity

Shakur Stevenson addressed his ongoing rift with Gervonta Davis, suggesting the tension stems from insecurity on Davis' end rather than anything specific between them.

"There's so much that happened in that situation. I don't know what it is with that dude, I don't know why is there like so much hatred upon me, but it is what it is. At the end of the day, look at this, if you ever look at me when I talk about him now — when I was younger I used to kind of be a little bit different, I used to be straight disrespectful — as I got older, more mature, I started learning how to speak in front of these cameras, learning how to talk. But, if you ever pay attention to me when I talk about him, I always say like he's a special fighter, he's a tremendous fighter.

“I try not to talk down on his name because I know that he's a good fighter, I give him his credit when it's due. But if you listen to him, he don't never say nothing good about me. He don't got nothing good to say about me. But I think it comes to like some type of insecurity. You know I'm the truth. Like, at the end of the day, you know I'm the truth, I know you the truth.

“So we the best of the best and I been saying it for years. So I'm going to keep it that way. I ain't going to lose my integrity. Hopefully he do his thing, I don't wish no ill upon him. Hopefully he come back and get all that other stuff situated," Stevenson

Davis' boxing career remains on hold with no clear timeline for a return, though his name continues to generate significant interest given his drawing power in the lower weight classes.
