Ennis On Fundora Fight: 'That's Gonna Stamp Me'

Jaron Ennis wants Sebastian Fundora next, but he will likely have to wait.

The WBA and WBO junior middleweight champion told YSM Sports Media that beating Fundora, the WBC titleholder who stands 6-foot-6, would prove his credentials once and for all. "That's one of the fights that's gonna stamp me," Ennis said, per The Ring. "That's the fight that everybody wants to see."

Kelly Unification Expected Before Fundora Clash

Ennis is closing in on an end-of-year unification bout with IBF champion Josh Kelly, according to The Ring's earlier reporting. Kelly upset Bakhram Murtazaliev in January to win the belt and defended it against Caoimhin Agyarko in July. Ennis acknowledged Kelly poses a real threat despite the Fundora talk. "Josh is a great fighter. He can box, move, slick, got a sharp IQ," he said. "I'm not looking past anybody."

Fundora must first defend against mandatory challenger Ermal Hadribeaj on October 17 at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas before any superfight materializes. Ennis stopped Xander Zayas in the seventh round on June 27 to retain his titles, though he was wobbled in the third.

Ennis dismissed concerns about Fundora's height advantage, noting he has sparred heavyweights who topped 6-foot-7. "He can't do nothing with me," he said. A Kelly fight announcement is expected soon, with Fundora looming as the ultimate 154-pound test for 2026.
