Richardson Hitchins sat down with the Mr. Verzace Podcast to talk through his recent move to welterweight and the heated exchanges that have followed.

The unbeaten junior welterweight titleholder explained his decision to campaign at 147 pounds, according to The Ring, and addressed his public back-and-forths with Keyshawn Davis and Devin Haney. Hitchins also weighed in on two high-profile matchups — Teofimo Lopez against Rolly Romero and Ryan Garcia versus Conor Benn — and named the opponents he most wants to face next.

Hitchins credits Mayweather and Davis as career influences

Hitchins spoke about watching Gervonta Davis as a young fighter and how that shaped his own approach to the sport. He also thanked Floyd Mayweather and Leonard Ellerbe for their support, saying he will always be grateful for the opportunities they provided him.

The Brooklyn native addressed what comes next if he cannot secure a marquee name for his welterweight debut, outlining his plans to stay active regardless of opponent.
