WBC creating special belt for Tyson Fury Thailand fight
The WBC is creating a one-off belt for Tyson Fury's July 24 return against Mariusz Wach in Thailand, a charity bout that will not stream live anywhere.
Fury announced the fight will be recorded by Netflix for Season 3 of At Home With The Furys, his reality series, per MMA Mania. The former heavyweight champion said 1,500 VIP tickets are available for the Pattaya event, with all proceeds going to local children's charities. "It's a beautiful thing I'm able to do here, giving back to a great cause," Fury wrote on social media. "WBC Boxing will be creating an exclusive belt for the event."
Wach fight sets up Joshua showdown
The Wach bout serves as a tune-up for a potential super fight with Anthony Joshua later this year. Joshua is scheduled to face Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Saudi Arabia, one night after Fury steps in the ring. That same weekend features Zuffa Boxing 9 and Edgar Berlanga's return at Madison Square Garden on July 26.
Fury has not fought since his split-decision loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their undisputed heavyweight title rematch last December. Wach, a veteran Polish heavyweight, has not competed at a high level in several years.
