Poirier Fires Back At Buckley After Sparring Clip
Dustin Poirier accused Joaquin Buckley of chasing views after the welterweight criticized him over his June arrest at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Buckley questioned the sincerity of Poirier's apology for the public intoxication incident and challenged the former interim lightweight champion to address the matter in person. Poirier responded Wednesday on social media, writing that Buckley should "shut up or kill me," according to Sherdog.
Buckley Doubles Down On Challenge To Poirier
Buckley fired back in another video, acknowledging the attention his criticism drew. "It did what it needed to do. It got your attention. It got views," Buckley said in the clip. He repeated his challenge to Poirier, inviting a face-to-face conversation when they next cross paths.
Sean Strickland entered the dispute by posting footage of himself dropping Buckley during a sparring session. The middleweight champion shared the clip on Instagram after an earlier video showed Buckley confronting him about his use of a slur at a promotional event.
Poirier was arrested in June on suspicion of public intoxication and later apologized for his behavior at the Atlanta airport. Buckley has since pressed him to address the incident directly rather than through public statements.
