Medic On Rodriguez's Imprisonment Before UFC Belgrade
Uros Medic said Daniel Rodriguez's legal troubles ahead of their UFC Belgrade main event Saturday reflect poorly on all fighters, according to MMA Fighting.
Rodriguez spent eight months in a Mexican prison after being arrested for marijuana possession before his release in April. The welterweight bout marks the first UFC main event held in Serbia and caps three-fight winning streaks for both men.
Medic Rejects Building Profile Through Controversy
"It puts a stain on all of our names," Medic told the outlet. "I don't respect that. Mistakes can be made, and he's just a human being, so it is what it is, but I try to represent something better."
The Serbian fighter, who stopped Geoff Neal in the first round at UFC Houston in February, said he avoids the kind of conduct that draws negative headlines. Rodriguez last fought in July 2025, beating Kevin Holland by decision at UFC 318.
Medic clarified he won't show sympathy once the cage door closes. "I wish him well, but when Saturday night comes, I'm going to try to hurt him," he said. The welterweight expects another finish in front of the sold-out Belgrade Arena crowd.
