Cejudo Wins Split Decision In Misfits Boxing Debut

Former UFC double champion Henry Cejudo scraped past actor and amateur boxer Javon Walton by split decision Saturday night in his boxing debut at Misfits Boxing in Miami.

Cejudo, who retired from the UFC in 2023 after holding titles at flyweight and bantamweight, took the fight on late notice after original opponent Deen The Great pulled out. Walton, known for his role on HBO's Euphoria, entered with a 3-0 amateur record and accepted the replacement bout on short notice.

Cejudo Takes Control After Slow Start

The opening rounds were tentative on both sides. Walton used his speed advantage to land early shots on the Olympic gold medalist, darting in and out with quick combinations. But Cejudo settled into the fight by the middle rounds, taking control of the pace and walking down his younger opponent.

After four rounds, the judges scored it narrowly for Cejudo. MMA Mania reported that "Triple C" had done enough to earn the razor-thin decision, though the fight lacked sustained action throughout.

Cejudo could pursue a rescheduled bout with Deen The Great after the showing, though a contract with Zuffa Boxing remains unlikely. The Misfits Boxing card took place at the James L. Knight Center in Miami.
