Blachowicz Shows Off Gruesome Cut After Belgrade KO

Jan Blachowicz posted graphic before-and-after images of the gash that led to his first-round stoppage at UFC Belgrade.

The former heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight champion was knocked across the octagon by Navajo Stirling on Saturday before ground and pound opened a deep cut that forced the referee to wave off the co-main event, MMA Fighting reported. Blachowicz shared photos of the wound Sunday alongside his first comments on the loss.

Blachowicz's Four-Year Winless Skid Continues

The 43-year-old has not won a fight since May 2022, when he stopped Aleksandar Rakic at UFC Vegas 54. Over the past four years, Blachowicz fought Magomed Ankalaev and Bogdan Guskov to draws while dropping decisions to Alex Pereira and Carlos Ulberg. Stirling's knockout marked his most definitive defeat in that stretch.

Blachowicz captured the 205-pound belt with a knockout of Dominick Reyes at UFC 253 in September 2020 and defended it against Israel Adesanya six months later. He lost the title to Glover Teixeira at UFC 267 in October 2021.

The Polish veteran has not announced his next move. Stirling, meanwhile, scored the biggest win of his young UFC career and could crack the top 15 with another strong showing.
