Berlanga Arrested For Alleged Pistol-Whipping In Domestic Dispute

Zuffa Boxing fighter Edgar Berlanga was arrested in Polk County, Florida, following an alleged domestic violence incident involving the mother of his child, Bad Left Hook reports.

According to TMZ, Berlanga was driving when an argument escalated, with the woman claiming he struck her multiple times before using a pistol to hit her in the head. She reportedly tried to leave the vehicle but was restrained before managing to escape and run to a nearby 7-Eleven, where bystanders contacted authorities.

Berlanga Charged With Felony Aggravated Battery

Police who responded to the scene noted swelling and bruising on the woman's forehead that matched her account of what happened. Though she told officers she did not wish to press charges, Berlanga was arrested because the incident qualified as a domestic violence case under Florida law.

The 27-year-old faces one count of felony aggravated battery and one count of misdemeanor battery touch or strike. His bond was set at $16,000.

Berlanga is 24-2 with 19 knockouts and last fought in July, stopping Steven Butler in his Zuffa debut. No date has been set for his next court appearance.
