Former UFC heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight Anthony Smith addressed the circumstances of his arrest last month.
Smith is accused of threatening to kill his wife if she refused to leave a bar with him in Gretna, Nebraska, and, according to investigators, attempted several times to strike her with a vehicle after she got out during the drive. She escaped unharmed.
A warrant was later issued for his arrest, and Smith turned himself in. A judge set bond at $500,000, with a no-contact order in place regarding his wife while the case proceeds. He's been charged with felony counts including attempted first-degree domestic assault and first-degree false imprisonment.
"I love Anthony with every ounce of my being. He is a good man, a great dad, and an incredible husband who loves us endlessly. Anyone that knows him can attest to that. They made a mental health struggle into something it wasn't. I am safe and always was safe. He would never hurt me. Ever. I called for help to protect him from himself," Smith's wife
"Happy to be home with my household full of 'whys'. I'll be able to tell my story someday soon. Until then… you guys just keep making it up as you go. Character is revealed in chaos," Smith
