Ryan Garcia has no sympathy for Conor Benn's weight cut struggles ahead of their September 12 showdown in Las Vegas.

Benn told BBC that dropping to 147 pounds — a mark he last hit in 2022 — has been brutal, comparing the process to being dragged through hell. Garcia, who fights comfortably at welterweight, said he expects no complaints after the bell. Benn competed at 160 and 150 pounds in his last two outings, making the three-pound drop more taxing than the number suggests.

Speaking at a pre-fight media session, Garcia said he believes Benn is setting up an alibi. MMA Mania reports that Garcia warned his opponent against using the cut as cover for a loss, noting Benn has no rehydration clause and could balloon to 175 pounds by fight night. Garcia said he plans to weigh around 157 pounds in the ring and brushed off the size difference.

Garcia also questioned whether Benn will even make the contracted weight, saying a recent photo showed his opponent nowhere near 150 pounds. Benn, for his part, acknowledged the difficulty but told BBC he signed up for the challenge and would not complain about the payday.

The two meet Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena, hours after Noche UFC wraps in Arizona. Garcia closed at slight favourite.
