Keyshawn Davis Wants The Winner Of Lomachenko Vs. Kambosos

Keyshawn Davis is ready to face the winner of Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. George Kambosos Jr

Loma and Kamboos face off on May 12, 2024, for the vacant IBF Lightweight Title. They enter into the fight with much to prove. Loma lost his last fight against Devin Haney, losing a controversial unanimous decision. The defeat ended Loma’s chance of becoming the undisputed lightweight champion, and at 35, he won’t have too many chances to do that.

Kambosos’ last bout was against Maxi Hughes. Despite getting a majority decision win, many felt he lost the fight. He looked far from the former Unified Lightweight Champion, who had beaten Teofimo Lopez. The pressure is on Kambosos to perform, with Paulie Malignaggi urging the boxer to retire after the fight.

Malignaggi On Kambosos

“I think he probably barely wins a round or doesn’t win a round in this fight either. I feel like he should retire after this fight. He’s been able to set himself up financially in these fights. Credit to him for being able to maximize a win so well like he was able to in the Lopez fight,” Malignaggi said

Despite this being the case, Davis was keen on facing the winner. That bout will give him his first world title shot. His current record is 9-0, making him one of boxing’s most exciting talents. His last fight was a win over Nahir Albright. However, things turned for the worse as the result was overturned.

This was after Davis failed a test for marijuana, which meant that the win became a no-contest. He is currently preparing to face Jose Pedraza on February 8, 2024. This is on the Teofimo Lopez vs Jamaine Ortiz card during Super Bowl Week, giving him the ideal place to showcase his skills. If he wins, he will be on course to face Loma or Kambosos.

“For sure, I would love to fight the winner out of Kambosos-Lomachenko at the end of this year, this year, whenever. I don’t know, when they fighting? “I would love to fight them, one of them. Whoever wins, at the end of this year gimme Lomachenko, Kambosos, whoever wins let me fight them. I’m ready,” Davis stated

Outside of that, Davis’ future with Top Rank is also uncertain. He spoke about his admiration for PBC, given their ability to make big stars. Davis singled out Gervonta Davis as an example. He also highlighted Isaac Cruz, Mario Barios and Rolando Romero as being big names, even though they all lost to Tank Davis. That could be the blueprint that Davis follows.

Davis’ Future

“I just love that side of the street that they know how to build stars. That’s exactly what they do. When you look at Isaac Cruz. Nobody knew Isaac Cruz until he fought Tank. Nobody knew Mario Barrios until he fought Tank. [And] nobody knew Rolly Romero until he fought Tank. Yes, they’re all riding Tank’s coattails, but after they fight Tank, those guys become stars and make more money than they ever would have expected. I just like how they create stars on that side,” Davis said
