Jake Paul Will Box BKFC's Mike Perry - 'Will It Be Bareknucke?'

Jake Paul vs  Mike Perry is likely to take place for July 20 after the initial Mike Tyson fight was postponed, with an announcement expected soon.

The news of the weight class and the number of rounds has not been confirmed, but Paul is expected to make an announcement today. The Problem Child was set to face Tyson on that date. However, Iron Mike withdrew after suffering from a health issue. Numerous reports indicated that an ulcer had inflamed, which happened on a May 26 flight from Miami to Los Angeles. Tyson’s team first stated that the boxer would be fine to the fight, only to retract those comments. A new date has now been confirmed for November 15.

Paul vs. Tyson

“Our team has worked diligently with all parties involved to reschedule this monumental fight to a date that ensures both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are fully prepared, with equal training time, as well as allowing us to keep the event at AT&T stadium in the midst of the Cowboys season.

“We appreciate the outstanding dedication, collaboration, and flexibility of our partners at Netflix and AT&T Stadium. Paul vs. Tyson is the most cross generational sporting event in history, and we are committed to providing fans worldwide with this unforgettable night of boxing, live globally on Netflix. We look forward to seeing everyone on Friday, November 15 for a showdown that will be talked about for generations to come,” Nakisa Bidarian (co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions)

But in the meantime, Paul is looking to remain active. The Problem Child is in the best form of his career after his loss to Tommy Fury, his first pro boxer. Wins against Nate Diaz, Andre August and Ryan Bourland were the perfect response. The wins against August and Bourland were against pro boxers, indicating a focus on becoming a better fighter. However, the decision to face Perry echoes that of Paul’s earlier career when he faced Anderson Silva and Ben Askren

Paul vs. Perry

This is going to be Perry’s second professional boxing fight since his debut in 2015. He took on Kenneth McNeil, only to get knocked out. Perry was linked with a boxing fight on the Paul-Tyson card against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Perry left the UFC in 2021 after suffering four losses in his last five fights. He signed up with BKFC and has since reinvented himself. Perry is undefeated with a 5-0 record, making him the biggest name in the promotion. He turned down the Chavez fight, stating that the purse was not enough.

“There were some things on the table with that, and the pay wasn’t incredible, especially considering the opponent. I was like oh, I’m interested in being on the Mike Tyson Netflix card to get that exposure against this, certified, professional boxer.

“But the money and there was another option that would be and I could only choose one of them.It was like, there was another option to have more money, and possibly opens more doors, and there’s some incentives involved that I was like, this would be more interesting.  That [fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.] would’ve been cool, but [it’s not happening],” Perry stated

Now, he takes on Paul for the chance to secure a lucrative payday and cause a shock.
