Furious Mike Tyson Confronted Donald Trump - 'I Froze Dead'

Donald Trump recalled Mike Tyson confronting him over allegations that the former US President was cheating on his former wife, Robin Givens.

Trump is a huge combat sports fan, having been involved in boxing and attended UFC events. He had the chance to stage some fights in Atlantic City, one of which featured Mike Tyson stopping Larry Holmes. During this period, Trump became Tyson’s ‘business’ advisor. While they developed a close relationship, things could have gotten out of hand. Speculation emerged that Trump had been cheating with Givens, causing Tyson to confront him.

Trump vs Tyson

Tyson: “Are you…[cheating with] my wife?”

Trump: “Now, if I froze, I’m dead… you would have zero chance. Here’s the heavyweight champion of the world, and he’s a solid piece of…armour.”

Trump replied: “Mike, let me tell you something – I never ever even thought about it. And I heard those rumours and they’re disgusting. In fact, I called you a couple of times to tell you I heard those rumours…And I never, ever even thought about it. She’s your wife, she’s with you, she’s loyal to you…it’s false. I give you my word.”

Luckily for Trump, the issue was resolved, leaving the two to retain their close friendship. Tyson would fight at Trump’s other properties, such as the Convention Hall and Trump Plaza Hotel in Atlantic City. Trump continued to back Tyson when he was convicted of rape in 1992. Tyson has come a long way since then, as he has prepares to enter the ring for the first time since 2020 against Jake Paul.

Tyson vs Paul

Tyson’s last bout was a 2020 fight against Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition, which ended in a draw. Trump could find himself at the fight on July 20. Paul expressed his aim to invite Trump to the event, which will be made easier due to Tyson’s close relationship with the former president.

However, there are concerns over whether the fight should go ahead. Tyson will be 58 by July against Paul, who is much younger at 28. There are also question marks over whether it is a pro bout. Tyson referred to it as an exhibition, only later stating it was a ‘fight.’ Paul clarified those comments, stating he wanted the Texas Athletic Commission on board for a pro bout.

“This is called an exhibition, but if you look up exhibition, you won’t see any of the laws we’re fighting under. This is a fight. I don’t think he’s faster than me. I’ve seen a YouTube video of him at [age] 16 doing weird dancing. That’s not the guy I’m fighting. This is a guy who’s really going to try and hurt me, which I’m accustomed to, and he’s going to be greatly mistaken. Right now, I’m scared to death. As the fight gets closer, the less nervous I become because it’s reality, and in reality I’m invincible,” Tyson said

“Yeah man, it’s so annoying. People on the internet will believe anything they see or hear. There’s been so much misinformation, we know this more than anyone. Mike and I want this to be a pro fight, with full face shots. We’re submitting that request to the commission. It’s an all-out war. There’s been all these fake videos about not being able to hit each other, big gloves, all that stuff. It’s all, as [Donald] Trump would say, fake news,” Paul stated
