Dillian Whyte Will Beat ‘AJ’ – Says Josh Warrington

Josh Warrington has backed Dillian Whyte to beat Anthony Joshua when they meet on August 12th, 2023.

The two fighters face each other in a domestic clash at the O2, London, with everything on the line.

A win for Joshua puts him in contention for a mega fight with the former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, in December that is reportedly worth $60 million.

Meanwhile, a win for Whyte would upset the apple cart and rejuvenate his title ambitions as the ‘body snatcher’ still chases his first world title.

Although Joshua is seen as the favorite, Warrington has backed Whyte to come out on top just slightly.

“It’s gonna be a tough fight, I do believe this AJ vs Whyte fight is gonna be a lot closer than the first one. I don’t think AJ’s on the slide, but I feel like he’ll wanna prove something. Not only to himself, but to everyone else,” Warrington told Talk Sport.

“To show that he has still got it, to show that he is still that aggressive animal that he can be. But that’s gonna play well into Dillian, because Dillian loves to be in the trenches in a fight.

“It’s not the end of the road, but I’m gonna be favoring towards Dillian in this one,” Warrington

And yet, their respective record would suggest otherwise. Joshua has already beaten Whyte when they met in 2015 with a seventh-round stoppage.

Not only that, but Joshua’s recent losses came at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk, the current unified heavyweight champion, which is no shame.

As for Whyte, he was given a decision against Jermaine Franklin which on another given day could have gone either way.

As for Joshua, the Brit dispatched the same Franklin with a lot more ease, despite the criticism that emerged after he failed to knock out the American.

Nevertheless, heavyweight boxing has shown that anything can happen. And given the absence of a rematch clause, both fighters know that they cannot afford to get it wrong.

With that being said, the fight cannot come soon enough. You can stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the world of boxing and MMA by visiting boxingblitz right here.
