Davis And Berinchyk’s Tense Face-Off

Keyshawn Davis and Denys Berinchyk came face-to-face ahead of their WBO Lightweight Title clash on Friday.
Davis has his first world title shot as he takes on the undefeated Berinchyk. He has a 12-0 record, with 8 KO wins. He knocked out Gustavo Lemos in the second round in his previous fight. Keyshawn has said he wants to box at the higher weight classes, such as 140 and 147, meaning he could move up if he secures a belt. His desire to get the Gervonta Davis fight is there. But Tank appears reluctant to take it. Meanwhile, Keyshawn has ruled out fighting his friend and WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson.
Berinchyk won the title in his last fight with a split decision win against Emanuel Navarrete. Navarrete still troubled Berinchyk despite coming up from 130 pounds. But Berinchyk is the more experienced fighter and has said that Keyshawn’s lack of pro experience will be his undoing. Berinchyk is an Olympic silver medalist, showing he has experience facing all kinds of styles. He has also trained alongside Oleksandr Usyk and Vasiliy Lomachenko, gaining knowledge from some of the best to ever do it.
They faced off against each other at the One World Observatory at One World Trade Center. The pair were cordial, exchanging smiles before things got tense.
Tense Face-Off
“I expect a first-round knockout, honestly. I already feel like I can do that and I’m definitely going to try and go in there to get that done. I’m definitely grateful for this opportunity. People don’t get a chance to become world champions. People gotta wait longer than I gotta wait to become a world champion. I’m grateful for this. I feel like it means more for my family than it actually means for me…It just helps me do what I want to do,” Davis said
“When we fight, it’s going to be different. Keyshawn has a lack of pro experience, and that means he’s going to be in trouble when he faces a fighter like me. Maybe [he’s a star], but he’s supposed to prove it [in the ring] and it can happen in time, maybe. Maybe not. And not in this weight class and not in February [when they fight]. His defense is pretty good, but his offense on the other hand is not as good. We are working on the things we think we can exploit. We’ve been working on it for the last three months. I would like to fight big names, such as Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson,” Berinchyk said
