Wilder Stares Down Zhang In Chilling Face Off – ‘Someone’s Going To Sleep’
The pre-fight presser for Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang took place ahead of their fight on Saturday.
The heavyweight clash pits two of the divisionโs most dangerous punchers against each other as Frank Warren and Eddie Hearnโs stable face off in a five vs five tournament. Wilder will represent team Hearn, while Zhang will represent Warren. Wilderโs right hand has taken him to 43 wins, with 42 coming by knockout.
However, his power has been questioned following his recent performance. The defeat to Joseph Parker saw Wilder desert his right hand and jab, leaving his opponent to win a decision. There is a question mark over whether the three Tyson Fury fights have taken their toll on Wilder. He was stopped in the second and third fights.
Zhang is a 41-year-old southpaw with knockout power. His main problem is that he gasses out in the later rounds. His performance against Parker proved that. Despite dropping the former WBO Heavyweight Champion twice, he could not finish him off. That allowed Parker to recover and outbox his man to win a decision. “I wonโt state the obvious and I would be disappointed if either tried to change tactics in this mouth-watering battle. Zhangโs southpaw style will cause Wilder problems. Neither of these two have great stamina which only spices things up even more. They will have to stand and trade blows, Wilderโs only hope of getting the TKO has to come early. If Zhang can get past the early rounds itโs his fight, bigger, stronger and has a better ring IQ than Wilder. Zhang wins inside 10-rounds by TKO and sends Wilder into retirement,” Duke McKenzie
