What's Next For Keyshawn Davis?

Keyshawn Davis made a major statement with a comprehensive win against Gustavo Lemos, raising questions over his next opponent.

Davis put on a clinical performance by dropping his man three times before getting a second-round stoppage. It was an electric performance in front of a 10,000-plus crowd from the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, as Keyshawn delivered in front of his home fans. Now, the attention has turned towards his next fight. Before the fight, he butted heads with Gervonta Davis on social media.

Keyshawn indicated that he wanted Tank, while the latter bashed Keyshawn’s star power. He questioned Keyshawn for fighting on a Friday night, suggesting he is not a big-name attraction. However, performances like this will only help Keyshawn’s brand. The win took his record to 12-0, with eight wins coming by knockout. That was also Davis’ third fight this year, showing he is remaining active. After his win, Keyshawn called out Tank.

Keyshawn Vs. Tank

“He’s [Tank Davis] kind of weird, but now he has no choice but to fight me. The fans want him to fight me after what I did tonight against a guy that is bigger than him,” Keyshawn said

“Outside of the potential money to be made, I will fight him with that same energy he’s coming with. Yes, I’m ready for that. He can’t [mess] with me, bro. [He] and his coach know that. [They are] worried. They want me to move to 140, to get out of 135 so I can be too big and don’t gotta fight them [anymore],” Keyshawn added

Other Options

Keyshawn also turned his attention towards Vasiliy Lomachenko. The Ukrainian is the IBF Lightweight Champion. He secured the belt after stopping George Kambosos Jr. in his last fight. The Ukrainian rejected the opportunity to face Tank Davis this year, with his team stating that they had no motivation for taking the fight. This raised questions about whether Loma will retire. He missed out on becoming undisputed at 135 after losing a controversial unanimous decision to Devin Haney. Loma is 36 years old, suggesting he may walk away from the sport.

Another alternative is to face off against Denys Berinchyk. He is the WBO Lightweight Champion. Keyshawn is ranked third in the WBO rankings, making that a feasible fight later down the line. Berinchyk is 19-0, with nine knockouts to his name. He beat Emanuel Navarrete in his last fight to win the vacant WBO belt. But he has not had a knockout since 2021, when he stopped Jose Sanchez. His last four fights have gone the distance, as Keyshawn will fancy his chances. Davis has plenty of options, but the main focus was to get a world title next year.

“I honestly thought Lemos was going to put up a better challenge. We’ll see what Berinchyk has to put up. Norfolk, you’re going to have a world champion next year,” Davis stated
