Turki Alalshikh Wants Joshua-Ngannou Winner Vs. Fury-Usyk Winner

Turki Alalshikh says Anthony Joshua or Francis Ngannou will likely face the winner of Tyson Fury Vs. Oleksandr Usyk

Joshua and Ngannou face off on March 8, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. A month prior, Fury and Usyk will battle it out for the right to become the world’s undisputed heavyweight champion. A rematch clause is in place, giving fans a potential two-fight thriller. But once that is navigated, Saudi Arabia’s Turki Alalshikh has indicated his desire to set up the winner of AJ-Ngannou with the undisputed champion.

Joshua is expected to win, leaving question marks over who he could face. The Brit has already been in the ring with Usyk on two occasions. Both fights ended in defeat, as Joshua could not work out the tricky Ukrainian and was outboxed. As for facing Fury, the two Brits had been in negotiations, but so far, nothing has materialized. Two 60-40 offers were made to Joshua. One was before Fury’s fight with Derek Chisora. The other did not result in a fight since Joshua faced Robert Helenius instead. Either way, Alalshikh’s vision is to create the biggest fights possible.

Joshua-Ngannou Winner

“His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has made it clear that he wants the winner of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk on Feb 17th to defend the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF & WBO heavyweight world titles against the winner of Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou on March 8th,” as per Michael Benson

Those were just some of the plans on the agenda. The rise of Saudi Arabia in boxing has also allowed two rival promoters, Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn, to come together. They worked together to put on one of boxing’s biggest cards when the ‘Day of Reckoning’ boxing event played out. They were also seated near each other for the kick-off presser for Joshua vs Ngannou.

Although it is not clear if this will translate into other boxing events outside of Saudi Arabia, in the meantime, boxing fans are in for a treat. Alalshikh clarified that he wanted Hearn and Warren’s best fighters to take each other on in a five-vs-five head-to-head to see who had the better stable. By the looks of it, this could be a serious possibility.

Alalshikh’s Vision

“Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren agree to a Matchroom vs Queensberry 5 vs 5 show that His Excellency Turki Alalshikh wants to stage,” Michael Benson added

There is still a long way to go before those plans come to fruition. Heavyweight boxing is unpredictable, and the Saudis have already seen what can happen in the division. Deontay Wilder’s loss to Joseph Parker disrupted plans of a two-fight deal involving Joshua, which had already been agreed upon, as Ngannou stepped in. Fury’s bout against Ngannou also disrupted the planned December 23, 2024, fight involving Usyk, given that the tough bout meant it was rescheduled. But if nothing untoward happens in the boxing ring, fans can expect major fireworks moving forward.
