Perry Reveals Massive Pay Cut After Danis Pullout
Mike Perry says he suffered a massive pay cut after Dillon Danis pulled out of their scheduled Duel Arena 1 main event just hours before Saturday's card in Florida.
Perry, who was set to face Danis in the promotion's inaugural MMA event, now meets Brandon Jenkins after Danis withdrew with an arm injury during fight week. The bare-knuckle star told media at the pre-fight press conference that his purse dropped significantly for the late replacement bout.
Perry's Purse Cut In Half For Jenkins Fight
"I gotta take a massive pay cut to take this new fight," Perry said at the press conference, per BJPenn.com. "You'd think accepting something last second would give you more, rather than much less."
MMA journalist Ariel Helwani reported that Duel Arena sources confirmed Perry will take a 50% pay cut for the Jenkins matchup. Perry suggested the late switch may have been planned all along. "It makes me think this was always their plan," he said.
Danis initially apologised on social media after his withdrawal but shifted tone in recent hours, hinting he was responsible for the bulk of the fight purses. The Bellator veteran last competed in MMA when he captured Misfits MMA's inaugural title against Warren Spencer in 2025.
Perry returns to MMA following his professional boxing win over Nate Diaz on the Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano card. Perry vs. Jenkins goes ahead Saturday night in Orlando.
