Sean Strickland Slams Ryan Garcia’s Mental Health Struggles – ‘It’s Boxing’s Britney Spears’
Sean Strickland, the former UFC middleweight champion, has bashed Ryan Garcia over his alleged mental health struggles.
Garcia has been exhibiting behaviour that has concerned his fans in the run-up to his fight with Devin Haney on April 20. The fight gives Garcia the chance to secure his first-ever world title by getting Haney’s WBC Junior Welterweight Title.
But so far, his behaviour suggests that he has not done enough to prepare himself for the fight. He controversially claimed he was ‘high’ when a fan had asked him how his training was going during a Live Space interaction. Garcia has now claimed that he has been denied access to his bank accounts, going so far as to state that people have been trying to put him in jail.

“Hey guys, it’s me, Ryan. Coming on here to explain what’s going on. I’m not in possession of my phone, I can’t get access to my Instagram, my cards are locked and I’m just being really taken advantage [of]. I would personally just want to send out a video to the people that love me and my fans, my family that’s concerned that I’m okay.
“I’m not dead, I believe in Jesus, all those [rumours] are lies. They’ve tried to put me in jail, they’re blocking my cards, I can’t access my money. Nobody is hitting me back, I don’t know what’s going on but just know I’m okay,” Garcia stated
Despite those worrying concerns, Strickland has hit out at Garcia’s behaviour.

“God I hate famous people. Bro you are f***ing RICH…. They’re kids in salt mines, kids dying of cancer begging for one more day on this earth and you’re having a mental break down on social media.. You f***ing pussy…You get what you want?? Did enough people tell you they love you??? Do you feel better??? You get enough attention lmao!!! Next time just be a man and pull the mother f***er don’t press post haha f***ing woman,” Strickland said
This naturally begs the question: Will the fight go ahead? As of now, there are concerns from those close to Garcia that he may not make it to the fight. His ex-wife, Drea Celina, publicly stated that she worries for Garcia, urging the fans to ‘pray for him.’ Eddie Hearn also has reservations over whether the fight will go ahead. And yet, Garcia has reassured the fanbase that the bout will advance. And Garcia responded to Strickland to put him in his place.
“If you knew God you wouldn’t hate anyone. You went on and Took advantage of a streamer who was someone with no exp. And you gave him a concussion. You think you are doing a service but really you are just a bully coming in the name of a hero,” Garcia replied
It remains to be seen if Garcia is merely trolling team Haney in the build-up or if there are genuine concerns. But with less than two months before the big fight, Garcia needs to convince his fanbase that all is well.
