Ryan Garcia Slams NBA Legend Michael Jordan - 'He Did Nothing For The People'

Ryan Garcia has lashed out at Michael Jordan, questioning his role outside of the sport.

The 61-year-old is regarded as one of the best basketball players ever. He has an impressive resume to back that up. In 1991, Jordan helped the Chicago Bulls win three NBA Championships in a row. He also secured a gold medal at the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992. Jordan would then retire from the NBA in 1993 after the murder of his father, only to return two years later.

Once again, he helped the Chicago Bulls win three titles in a row. Outside of the court, Jordan is known for his famous ‘Jordans’ shoes. They have become an iconic piece of footwear for basketball and non-basketball fans. And yet, Jordan has reportedly supported 15 charities.

Some of these include the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Buoniconti Fund To Cure Paralysis, Cats Care and CharitaBulls. While that may be the case, Garcia felt Jordan was not doing enough to use his influence outside the court to make a difference. During a segment for ‘sneaker complex shopping’, Garcia was asked about his view on Jordans. Ryan responded by dismissing the brand.

Garcia Reacts

“Nah, Jordan ain’t do…[nothin]for the people. Jordan made some shoes. I don’t give a…[damn]about no 6 rings, I care about what you did outside the court,” Garcia said

In comparison, Garcia has been using his platform recently to speak up about issues related to child trafficking. His focus first started in the build-up to the Devin Haney fight. The boxer spoke about the trafficking industry, stating that he was doing work with Congress behind the scenes to tackle this issue. The boxer divided opinion, with some questioning his mental health. Meanwhile, others argued Garcia was using the issue to sell his fight. After beating Devin Haney, Garcia again reminded the audience about the issue, saying he was getting unfair criticism.

“Come on, you really thought I was crazy? You all lost your whole mind… You guys overrate everything, you guys hate on me because I’m pretty,” Garcia stated

Garcia’s Legacy

But Garcia’s behavior outside the ring does not help him. He tested positive for Ostarine following two VADA tests after the Haney win. The substance allows fighters to cut weight and increase muscle/stamina. His B sample also came back positive. Garcia denies intentional usage. His hair follicle sample was negative, while his supplements tested positive. However, that is not conclusive evidence. The supplements were unsealed and not from sealed containers from the same lot/manufacturer. If Garcia cannot prove his innocence, he could be banned.

He has not helped himself by suggestions that he has been set up, as he singled out Victor Conte. He was also criticized for his behavior towards Caleb Plant. Plant responded to Garcia’s comments about how the amount of Ostarine could not help him beat Haney. Plant responded by saying why did he take it. Garcia was not impressed with the response, as he made disparaging remarks about Plant’s wife, Jordan Plant. Plant responded by throwing a drink at Garcia when they both attended the Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin fight, resulting in a brawl. Garcia must also focus on his image if he wants to call out others, including Jordan.
