Ryan Garcia Makes A Public Apology – Is It Too Late?
Ryan Garcia has made a public apology to his ex-wife, Andrea Celina, following his recent antics.
Garcia’s behavior has spiralled out of control of late. Before the Devin Haney fight, he admitted that he had been smoking and drinking. His social media activity was also erratic. However, Garcia shocked the world by beating Haney via a unanimous decision. The result was overturned into a no-contest after Garcia failed two VADA tests for Ostarine.
Garcia received a one-year ban from boxing. Things then escalated further. The WBC banned him after his racial slurs and derogatory posts towards Muslims, Christians, and African Americans earned him criticism. Garcia’s behavior then went a step further. Celina accused Garcia of breaking into her house. This was after she denied him visitation rights to his kids due to his substance abuse. Garcia was alleged to have caused damage to the house. He has taken steps to address his problems by issuing an apology. He will now go into rehab to address his problems.
Garcia’s Apology
“I woke up the next morning regretting everything I did and said about Andrea. I came on here just to say I’m sorry. Andrea, you’re the mother of my children and somebody I’ll always love and respect for. You grew up [with] me. You’ve seen me at my best, and now you’ve seen me at my worst. Andrea and everybody knows I’ve got a lot of stuff going on right now, but I’ve decided to get some help.
“I lost everything in the past couple of weeks. My boxing career, just so many other things. I hurt Andrea, I hurt you, I hurt our kids, I hurt everybody around me for my actions. I’m sorry, but I know our kids will watch these when they get older. I’m so sorry. I lost everything. I lost the one thing I ever loved, who knew me the most. Andrea knows me the most. I’m sorry, Andrea, I feel bad.
“I retract all my statements about her. She never stole money from me and never did wrong to me. She never cheated on me. We weren’t together, so she’s not a cheater right there. She’s a great woman.“Saying that, I finally decided to get some help. I’m going to rehab, and you will see a change in the next couple of months. I’ve got to handle some things, but after that, I’m going to check myself into rehab and get better,” Garcia said
That is a step in the fight direction if Garcia can keep himself in a good state of mind. He will be entitled to box again in April 2025, provided that he keeps himself in good shape. Devin Haney has stated that he wants to rematch Garcia, making that a much bigger fight. While Garcia will likely still be the A-side as the commercial draw, it is vital that he backs things up in the boxing ring.
